Pheladi Fakude (lecturer)

My name is Pheladi Fakude, a Lecturer in the Unit of Academic Literacy at School of Languages of the North-West University in the Vaal Triangle Campus. I obtained my Master’s degree from University of Limpopo with specialization in English studies, Literacy and Linguistics. I am fascinated by the interface between languages and literacies and intrigued by multilingualism in the South African Higher Education. I am currently working on my PhD titled “Reading in two languages: A case of Sepedi-English students in multilingual higher institution”. The study focuses on reading comprehension by looking at reading speed, reading fluency, inference skill, and anaphoric resolution as indicators of reading competence.
