Taty Dekoke

Taty Dekoke is the French lecturer and a PhD student in Linguistics and Literary Theory at the School of Languages on the Vaal Triangle Campus. I focus my research on the issues of Globalisation, Migration and Languages. As Globalisation reveals new migratory trends impacting the sociolinguistic aspects of the world, migrants from different geographical, cultural and linguistic origin are in contact producing hybrid cultures and/or languages repertoires. Therefore, the study of Migration and Languages in contact would be a fascinating field as it reveals how migrants maintain, shift or lose their languages for diverse reasons. I am working on my PhD thesis entitled “The changing language repertoires of Congolese migrants in the Vaal Triangle”.
